This new skill set, which is part of the national Health Training Package, has been designed for experienced clinical coders seeking to broaden their skills to include clinical coding auditing.
 
This course is available to residents of Australia only.
 
The skill set consists of three units of competency:
HLTCCD008     Undertake highly complex clinical coding
HLTCCD009     Undertake a clinical coding audit
HLTCCD010     Analyse and report on clinical coding auditing
 
There are two pathways into the skill set:
 
1.   Full - Complete training and assessment for all three units of competency.
      Duration - 18 months 
      Fee - $4,900.00        
      Prerequisite - Successful completion of a challenge examination.
      This pathway is designed for clinical coders who do not yet have the skills to code highly complex healthcare records.
 
2.    Partial - Complete training and assessment for two units of competency:
       HLTCCD009 Undertake a clinical coding audit and HLTCCD010 Analyse and report on clinical coding auditing.
       Duration - 6 months         
       Fee - $1,730.00
       This pathway is designed for clinical coders who have previously undertaken training in highly complex clinical coding and have a 
       statement of attainment in HLTADM007 Undertake highly complex clinical coding or its equivalent predecessor. Students will have the 
       opportunity to demonstrate equivalency to HLTCCD008 Undertake highly complex clinical coding through recognition of prior learning.
