WW5922 - Senior Clinical Analyst - (Full-time) - WSLHD, Westmead, NSW

The Clinical Analytics and Performance Unit (CAPU) at WSLHD is seeking a Senior Clinical Analyst in either a full-time or part-time capacity. The role would suit a proactive, team-focussed individual with strong data manipulation, analysis, presentation and interpersonal skills who can communicate effectively with clinicians about clinical data and information. Ideally they would have either a clinical or health information management background, and would use their extensive knowledge of clinical workflows, patient movements, casemix systems, costing and funding to present, interpret and analyse clinical data.

Through doing this they will identify anomalies, patterns and trends, and highlight and address issues worthy of attention in clinical activity, performance and cost within Western Sydney Local Health District.

Selection criteria:
1. Tertiary qualification in a health related field or relevant industry experience.

2. Demonstrated knowledge of major hospital information systems and datasets such as PAS, emergency, operating theatres, outpatients, pathology, imaging, pharmacy, SNAP, HIE, Finance.

3. Demonstrated high level technical expertise and experience in data systems, assessing information requirements, data extraction and analysis, activity and performance report creation and benchmarking.

4. Advanced computer skills required to manipulate and analyse large amounts of data using software such as MS-Access, MS-Excel, SQL, Minitab or Qlik.

5. Well-developed verbal written communication skills with ability to communicate and consult effectively and work with staff at all levels.

6. Ability to problem-solve, prioritise workload and meet deadlines, both autonomously and within a team in an environment with minimal supervision.

7. Demonstrated understanding of the principles of casemix, use of casemix information in health services management such as costing, benchmarking and the concepts of activity based funding (ABF) and management (ABM).

8. Excellent understanding of clinical costing and processes surrounding the provision of patient care. Strong understanding of health funding methods and contracts.
