This is a brilliant opportunity to work in Auckland, with close proximity to beaches, wilderness, ski fields, volcanoes, countryside, islands and mountains.

Auckland District Health Board has the most complex casemix in New Zealand, providing tertiary clinical services for patients in the Northern Region of the country, and quaternary clinical services (such as heart/lung and liver transplants) for patients across the country.

We are seeking a self-motivated, experienced Clinical Records Manager to join our health information management team to provide leadership and support to the clinical records team to ensure the effective day-to-day operations.

You will have the opportunity to work in the largest research and teaching hospital in the country, and lead the clinical records function across the full range of services and their subspecialties including medical, surgical, cardiovascular, oncology, paediatric, maternity and community and mental health.

This position is based at the Auckland City Hospital; a 1,000 bed hospital equipped with leading edge technology to support the delivery of world-class healthcare to our patients.

Reporting to the Director of Information Management Operations, you will be responsible for the operational management of the clinical records, scan centre and data quality service. You will successfully lead and manage these teams to achieve individual and team KPIs for quality and records throughput.

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate a combination of sound leadership and staff management capability. You will have a track record of motivating and managing a team to prioritise workloads effectively and ensure clinical records activities are conducted in an efficient, safe and high quality manner. You will be motivated by the challenges of working in a dynamic and complex environment, and you will be able to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including clinical staff.

Key skills and experience required:

  • Degree in Health Information Management or other qualifications deemed equivalent;
  • Proven leadership and staff management experience with 8-10 years staff management experience, preferably in a tertiary hospital
  • Proven experience in HR practices
  • Knowledge of the implications of the Treaty of Waitangi with a commitment to bi-culturalism,/li.
  • Experience in operations management of a scanning centre and/or clinical records department
  • Management experience of a large team in a complex environment
