Opportunity to contribute to a unique and internationally acclaimed national Registry and research project using an innovative platform.

The Australian IPF Registry is a unique national research resource that has been facilitated by Lung Foundation Australia. The Lung Foundation is the only national charity devoted to serving everyone in Australia with a lung disease.

The Registry is seeking a part-time Data Manager as data cohort is substantial, dynamic and researchers request data regularly. State Coordinators collect and enter an ongoing series of participant and physician surveys and the results of medical investigations and expert panel reviews into a remote access database.

This hands-on position requires a proactive Data Manager who can combine sound data management skills with an understanding of using data in health research, and who has sufficient experience in working with substantial data sets and data management software to work independently and provide advice.

As a unique national Registry in IPF with international standing this project and the Data Manager role are uniquely placed to influence future initiatives.

The position may also provide the future additional opportunity to work as the part-time Data Manager the Australasian Bronchiectasis Registry, part of the Lung Foundation Research area.


Responsibilities / Duties: 

This strategic role, reports to the Australian IPF Registry Project Manager and will be responsible for developing and implementing all data management processes, including data verification, quality control and exporting high quality research data as well as providing advice on database maintenance and development. The protocols and procedures developed by the Data Manager will ensure that the Registry meets its full potential by providing complete and accurate data for research in a timely manner.


Essential: 
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Experience working with substantial datasets
  • Demonstrated high level competency with data management software
  • Demonstrated communication skills including being able to explain complex technical ideas and work in a manner that may be interpreted to those without technical training
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically, problem solve, manage and prioritise work load and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team.


Desirable: 
  • Experience in health information management, clinical research or biostatistics (desired)
  • Experience working on a FileMaker Pro database platform (desired)
