You will be responsible for ensuring the provision of timely and accurate ICD10-AM morbidity coding services for the Royal Adelaide Hospital’s Clinical Coding Program. Ensuring that patient morbidity data meets the Department of Health Services Casemix reporting requirements, you will participate in reviewing procedures and practice standards, producing reports to determine Casemix funding revenue.

You will also provide leadership and management to coding staff, undertake education and training of Clinical Coders, as well as giving advice and support to clinical and paramedical staff in the development and analysis of morbidity data and Diagnostic Related Group initiatives. You will be operating as a leader of a team whose role is to provide a specialist and complex work function. To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience within a teaching hospital Coding and Medical Record Service, preferably in a management capacity. You will have a sound understanding of data processing and its implications on diagnostic coding, along with experience with the 3M Codefinder software and detailed knowledge of Casemix and DRGs. With the ability to exercise a high level of independent judgement, you will be capable of identifying potential weaknesses and discrepancies in morbidity data and recommending solutions. You will also possess the confidence to effectively plan and organise tasks, procedures, work flow and staff development.
