The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team is essential. The successful applicant must also have a commitment to a high standard of customer focused care, excellent time management and organisational skills.

Responsibilities / Duties:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Accurately code, index and group episodes using ICD-10-AM, ACHI and the Australian Coding Standards utilising 3M Codefinder software
  • Validate accuracy of DRG allocation for coded episodes
  • Participation in quality and education activities including coding audit processes
  • Involvement in other department KPIs including mandatory data and clinical indicator submission, release of information and casemix meetings
  • Attend and actively participate at coding meetings and education sessions

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor of Health Information Management (HIM) or equivalent with at least 2 years experience
  • A demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills

Preferred Criteria

  • Knowledge of private sector funding models
  • Knowledge of the WebPAS Patient Information System
