An opportunity exists for a Senior Health Information Manager / Clinical Coding Educator / Auditor with a passion for and expertise in clinical coding to join our enthusiastic coding team Working across Waitemata District Health Board sites. We are a multiple campus Hospital offering diverse and challenging case mix specialties including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, General Medicine, Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Neonatology, Endoscopy, Gynaecology, Urogynaecology, Oncology, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatrics, Emergency Medicine and more.

The Coding Service is committed to a high standard of coding quality. As Coding Educator & Auditor you will be responsible for providing education to coders and clinicians with the objective of improving coding accuracy and timeliness. Overseeing and participate in our coding audit program, supervise the training of new coders and develop internal coding resources. Permanent 10 days (or if preferred for the right candidate 7-9 days a fortnight (with flexible days offered)supported by Clinical Coding & Records Manger, Clinical Coding Team Leader and Senior Clinical Coders/Educator/Auditors Coding tools – 3M Code finder & PLATO PDC.

  • Bachelor of Business or Applied Science (Health Information Management) or equivalent, or Clinical Coding qualification from HIMAA or equivalent.
  • 5 years previous coding experience and comprehensive knowledge of Case mix Funding principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to build relationships in clinical and non-clinical environments.
  • :Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Completion of a health Information Management degree is desirable (but not essential).

Applicants offered an interview will be required to sit a coding examination to assess coding competency and knowledge of relevant Coding Standards.
