  • Full time permananet position (job share will be considered), based at Mercy Hospital for Women Heidelberg.
  • An opportunity exists for a motivated Clinical Coder to become part of the HIS coding team at Mercy Health Victoria Limited. The successful applicant will be required to provide accurate, timely coding using the 3M Codefinder in accordance with the Australian Coding Standards.
  • The coding service is committed to a high standard of coding quality and ensures comprehensive training and ongoing education.
  • The position involves participation in regular coding audits and documentation quality improvement activities.
  • Coding tools – 3M Codefinder and iQ Coding Adviser Auditing System (Victorian Pilot Site).

We are a multiple campus Hospital offering diverse and challenging casemix specialties including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, General Medicine, Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Neonatology, Endoscopy, Chemotherapy, Renal Dialysis, Gynaecology, Urogynaecology, Oncology, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatrics, Palliative Care, Emergency Medicine and more. We have a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and are about to open an Adult Intensive Care Unit.

We are a growing Health Service about to transition from paper to a scanned/electronic medical record. A scanned medical record will facilitate cross campus coding and flexibile working conditions.

    Previous coding experience and knowledge of Casemix funding principles is desirable but not essential.

  • The ability to work across Mercy sites on occasion to ensure that coding deadlines are met

Applicants offered an interview will be required to sit a coding examination to assess coding competency and knowledge of the Australian Coding Standards.
