Knox Private Hospital is the largest private hospital in the eastern and south eastern corridor of Melbourne. We operate 359 patient beds, 11 theatres, a 24 hour Emergency Department, an on-site medical team, a 20 bed Intensive Care / Coronary Care Unit and a Day Procedure Unit. As part of the Healthscope group this position is responsible for facilitating the overall quality, completeness, timeliness and accuracy of clinical documentation in medical records to support; the delivery of high quality patient care, the clinical coding process, accreditation and adherence to quality standards and appropriate reimbursement of revenue. Key responsibilities will involve:

  • Provide education to Nursing, Allied Health and Physicians on documentation guidelines
  • Develop a process to ensure comprehensive and complete clinical documentation
  • Conduct and manage the casemix and revenue analysis process
  • Undertake and lead clinical documentation performance improvement initiatives
  • Improve the quality and timeliness of all clinical documentation including discharge summaries
  • Assist in the general interpretation and understanding of health fund contracts
  • Promote a safe working environmental
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Review and maintain best practice

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Medicine, Health Information Management or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in healthcare preferable a large acute hospital.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team as required.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills.
  • Commercial and Business focus.
  • People management skills.
