An exciting 12 month opportunity exists for a Senior Health Information Officer in Justice Health within the Department of Justice & Regulation.

Justice Health is the business unit of the Department of Justice and Regulation responsible for the delivery of health services for persons in Victorian prisons. In Victoria, health services to prisoners are contracted to health service providers and Justice Health contract manages those providers in public prisons. Justice Health sets the policy and standards for health care in all Victorian prisons and monitors and reviews the performance of health service providers.

Justice Health works in collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services and Corrections Victoria to also ensure the effective transition of prisoners back to the community from prison (with particular focus on the health) and that mental health and alcohol and drug treatment services are provided to offenders on community based orders.

As the Senior Health Information Officer you will be required to provide high level support to the Manager Health Information & Policy contributing to risk and issue management, supporting process improvement initiatives, establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, participating in and facilitating business and strategic planning processes and processing incoming requests.

As the successful applicant you will possess an eye for detail, strong written and oral communications skills to support various communication activities including writing briefs, correspondence, presentations, reports, policies and procedures.

In addition to the above, you will be required to demonstrate:

  • Experience of risk assessment of health information
  • Advanced computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet use, presentation, and database functions,/li>
  • Experience with health records in a clinical setting including and an understanding of health terminology is highly desirable
