The role:

The purpose of the role is to support and enhance the quality and management of information in Queensland Health data collections and providing expert technical advice on data definition, collection and processing, particularly for clinical coding and related matters. Specifically, this role will develop a comprehensive program of data quality activities with a particular focus on clinical coding to improve Queensland Health statistical collections, and analyse data to monitor and identify quality concerns. The role will also develop and implement strategies to improve data and metadata quality, and improve data quality in relation to data definitions, standards, system and business processes, and clinical coding by organising and/or developing education and support programs. Furthermore, the role will provide expert advice on new data quality initiatives, national developments and policies for the capture, management, dissemination, manipulation and presentation of Queensland Health data.

The successful Peson:

  • The successful candidate will demonstrate experience working with data in a similar role within a large complex work environment.
  • You will demonstrate strong knowledge and skills in clinical coding relating to health information and collections, either specialising in data quality, data analysis, data definition, and/or classification and standards. Additionally, you will
    demonstrate strong problem solving skills and attention to detail, together with the ability to take complex information and communicate it to a non-technical audience
  • You will also be required to demonstrate highly developed consultative, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to liaise with all levels of staff and with a range of stakeholders in a sensitive and confidential manner.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the health sector and processing of health related statistical data would be desirable.
