Established in 2006, headspace is a well-recognised, national not-for-profit organisation making a difference to the lives of young people aged 12-25 years. headspace enables young people and their families to access information and support through a national network of centres and services, and drives community awareness and education about youth mental health, early intervention and help seeking.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced data analysis and management professional to join our Evidence & Knowledge Transfer division.

The Health Information Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of data information standards to ensure quality and consistency in data collection and reporting across the organisation.

Reporting to the Evaluation Manager, you will coordinate processes around the collection and provision of data and information for reporting, planning, research and evaluation purposes. You will be involved in the scoping and development of infrastructure to enable routine data extracts and analytic dashboards for a range of stakeholders. Through the analysis and reporting of health data, you will facilitate the development of benchmarks and performance targets for headspace services.

Headspace is seeking a motivated individual with a commitment to data quality and expertise in the development and implementation of data collection, quality, management and reporting processes within a health setting. The incumbent will also have a proven track record in effectively communicating with diverse stakeholders, including data application managers and developers, coupled with highly developed conceptual and analytical skills.

Essential: 
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Statistics, Health Economics or other relevant discipline with a strong data management and analysis component).
  • A minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • A high level of expertise and experience in the development and implementation of data collection, quality, management and reporting processes within a health or mental health setting.
  • Evidence of strong commitment to data quality and up-to-date knowledge of regulations, policies, guidelines and standards relating to health information management, privacy, ethics and quality.
  • Familiarity with data capture, data cleaning and data loading operations, particularly in the context of health data collection.
  • Strong analytic skills and experience using data analysis, visualisation and reporting software, including excel and SPSS.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with data application managers and developers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing analytical reports and the ability to liaise with and present information to diverse audiences.


Desirable: 
  • Experience using Tableau and Microsoft suite (eg, Power BI).
  • Understanding of the mental health system.
  • Understanding of youth mental health issues
  • Familiarity with outcome measures used in mental health.
