WW6288 - Casemix Manager - (Full-time/ Part-time) - West Gippsland Healthcare Group, Warragul, VIC

  • Casemix Manager - Casemix and Clinical Coding Services. 24-38 hours per week negotiable. Health Information Manager Grade 4.

Bring your enthusiasm and passion to this newly created role set amongst the rolling hills of Warragul, just 30 minutes easy driving from Pakenham. This new position requires an experienced and dynamic HIM with strong knowledge of the casemix coding system.

You will support our high quality coders, conduct regular audits and develop education programs to ensure coding is optimised and reflects the complexity of work being performed. Possessing contemporary knowledge of the Australian coding standards, you will play a pivotal role in engaging clinicians and promoting the importance of good clinical documentation and the role this plays in primary diagnosis reference group (DRG) determination.

You will lead a small team of coders and clinical documentation specialists and oversee the training program for our coding trainee. You will also work closely with and be supported by Business Services in coding data analytics.
If you are new to leadership but possess the required technical skills you will be supported through our internal leadership development program and through external training courses.

  • Bachelor of Health Information Management or other equivalent qualification
  • Excellent clinical coding skills using ICD-10-AM, and a comprehensive understanding of casemix/DRGs.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Health Information Management.

  • Eligibility for full membership to the Health Information Management Association of Australia.
  • Thorough understanding of Victorian Health Department policies and ABF funding guidelines.
  • Demonstrated experience with coding audit tools such as PICQ.
  • Assist in achieving data integrity for reported data submission relevant to VAED and its associated data sets.
