WW6297 - Manager Application Support - (Full-time) - Western NSW Local Health District - Dubbo , NSW

This position is responsible for managing and overseeing the effective use and operation of a number of health information applications (an iPM PAS and Cerner eMR) relating to clinical services, patient administration and medical records across both WNSWLHD and FWLHD. This is a maternity relief position.

Responsibilities / Duties: 
  • Promote effective use of applications by overseeing the provision of quality customer support and assistance to the end user/ frontline staff: including response to enquiries, resolution of basic problems, provision of feedback on the progress of matters pending resolution, resolution of issues and management of incidents.
  • Ensure the applications remain fit for purpose by managing their development and enhancement, in line with clinical trends, developments, system issues and business needs; through effectively liaising with clinicians/users/ managers, identifying common inquiries/ problems and implementing new features/ fixes.
  • Provide expert advice to senior managers and clinicians about the applications and collaborate to ensure responsiveness to local needs and full use of application capability.
  • Facilitate the effective introduction of new applications and system enhancements, optimizing the transition from project phase to production and maintenance phase to realise the benefits of the change and minimise disruptions to end users.
  • Oversee the provision of ongoing education to new and existing users and local super-users, to improve compliance with system requirements and implementation of improvements/ upgrades and rollouts; identifying training needs and overseeing the development of training materials, checklists and other documents/ tools to support the competent use of the systems.
  • Ensure patient administration system transactions are supported for smaller facilities across the LHD in the absence of administration staff, particularly after hours, to ensure application effectiveness at these sites.
  • To support performance and continuity, take responsibility for the effective recruitment, leadership, operational management, development and performance of direct reports and play an active role in team culture development, succession planning and practices which value diversity.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in management or Health Information Management; or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive experience in management of one or more clinical information system applications, including the provision of ongoing support.
  • Project management experience, delivering effective outcomes within identified resources.
  • Demonstrate excellent written communication skills including the development of clear and succinct communiques, manuals, procedures, policies and briefs in language appropriate to the end user.
  • Experience leading the provision of quality services to a range of customers and the ability to resolve complex customer issues and needs.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workloads accurately, meet deadlines and competently manage the demands of a complex and diverse team.
  • Leadership skills including excellent communication and the ability to effectively engage a team towards their operational purpose.
  • License to drive in NSW and ability to travel for work as required.
