An exciting opportunity exists for an accomplished, motivated and experienced Health Information Services (HIS) professional to become part of our team leading the function for Mercy Hospital Victoria Limited (MHVL)

  • Permanent Full Time position (requests for part-time of no less than 0.9FTE will be considered)
  • This role involves working across Mercy Hospital for Women (Heidelberg) and Werribee Mercy Hospital


As Director of Health Information Services, you will provide vision and leadership which includes:

  • Efficient and effective delivery of all Health Information Management Services
  • Compliance with legislative and Departmental requirements for all relevant data integrity and reporting.
  • Ensuring all Information Management Services, systems and processes are aligned; and
  • Support Mercy’s strategic direction and intent



It is the Health Information Services Director responsibility to:

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of the MHVL Health information Services (HIS).
  • Work with Executive Director Nursing & Midwifery to improve delivery of health information within the clinical arena in the most effective and efficient way
  • Provide expert advice and represent Mercy Health on health information management as required
  • Work with senior health information management staff to ensure an effective and efficient HIS is in place for MHVL
  • Maximize WIES
  • Lead and manage the transition associated with moving from paper based health information services to an electronic platform
  • Have oversight and coordinate clinical systems support within health services
  • Provide expert advice on current Health ICT and Information management systems and structures


ABOUT YOU:

  • Relevant postgraduate tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management, or similar health related field
  • Masters or similar qualification preferred
  • Significant knowledge and experience in managing Health related information systems including medical, corporate, forms and patient education documents
  • Previous experience leading and developing large multi-site services within a health or related service
  • Expertise in the restructuring and development of systems and processes using ICT and an EMR to support efficiency
  • Comprehensive knowledge, experience and understanding of current best practice in the field of EMR and technology applications within health
