About the opportunity

The CS will work as part of a cohesive team of experts to achieve NCCH objectives in relation to maintenance, development and education of content within the Australian AR-DRG Classification System. In depth knowledge of classifications, including ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS and AR-DRGs will allow the CS to undertake the development of proposals and respond to queries received by the NCCH through the public submission and queries process.

  • recognised tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. MRA, HIM, Clinical Coder, etc.)
  • demonstrated high standard of oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • ability to effectively engage with clinicians, HIMs and clinical coders
  • ability to work as part of a team and with little supervision to achieve work-plan milestones and reporting requirements
  • high level project management skills and experience
  • high level time/task management and problem solving skills
  • demonstrated high level proficiency in clinical coding with ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS
  • demonstrated understanding of the relationship between ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS and AR-DRGs
  • demonstrated advanced computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Products and classification, grouping and terminology software tools
  • ability to credibly represent the NCCH at external forums (state, national and international)
  • commitment to providing exceptional client service
  • a broad understanding of the Australian health care system and current health policy developments including Activity Based Funding (ABF)
