An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Coding Auditor/Educator to join our Health Information Service team.

The brand new 280 bed Gold Coast Private Hospital is located in Southport and provides a wide range of Surgical and Medical services including emergency care, obstetrics, paediatrics and cardiothoracic surgery. A 12 bed Intensive Care Unit manages both elective and emergency high dependency care for the hospital.

Responsibilities / Duties: 

As a Clinical Coding Auditor/Educator your responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in case mix analysis, education & quality activities
  • Clinical documentation improvement initiatives
  • Facilitate training and education activities that are promoted by the State Health Auditor/Educator (QLD, NT, WA)
  • Perform coding audits and manage a continuous quality improvement strategy
  • Provide coding services as required

  • Bachelor of Health Information Management and/or the HIMMA Advance Clinical Coding certificate
  • The La Trobe Clinical Coding Audit certificate
  • The ability to lead and drive success within a team to maximise performance in clinical coding quality and productivity
  • Comprehensive knowledge and endorsement of all available clinical coding resources including 3m Codefinder, e-classification software, National and State coding advice and PICQ
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and manage workload according to the changing needs of the Health Information Service
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships

  • Knowledge of private sector funding models
  • Knowledge of webPAS patient information system
  • Certification in education
