WW6362 - Health Information Manager - Mental Health - (Full-Time) - Orange Health Service, Western NSW LHD - Orange, NSW

The Health Information Manager – Mental Health is responsible to contribute and assist in the management and leadership of health information services department.

Responsibilities / Duties: 
  • Provide advice and guidance regarding all aspects of health information to ensure services are delivered within agreed timeframes and quality standards.
  • Manage, coordinate and provide leadership for all sections within Health Information department to ensure they meet the organisations internal and external needs.
  • Contribute and assist in the development and implementation of business and strategic plans, policies, procedures standards and practices to ensure delivery of quality health information services across general health, mental health and mental health community healthcare settings.
  • Manage the review of clinical documentation within mental health system and reporting on compliance to the management.
  • Code the medical records using ICD-10-AM, ACHI, ACS and other associated guidelines
  • Managing time and prioritising tasks given the diverse range of issues encounters simultaneously and work demands flowing from a number of sources.
  • Managing hybrid medical record and its service implications and supporting implementation of technologies that will enhance moving towards the vision of an integrated electronic medical record.
  • Other duties as appropriate to the level and responsibility of the position as may be requested by the Health Information Manager.

  • Tertiary qualification in Health Information Manager or an Associate Diploma in Medical Records Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary HIM practice in NSW Health, including current legislation, policy and activity based funding and recent experience in health information management including clinical coding.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and effectively manage a heavy and constantly changing workload to meet service demands, productivity targets and strict guidelines.
  • Information and communication technology competence with a range of standard software programs- including for email, data entry, reporting and researching.
  • High level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop effective working relationships with clinicians and managers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Activity Based Funding concepts and practical applications within the healthcare system.
  • Demonstrated understanding of health record systems within community, non-admitted and admitted general and mental health settings.
