Opening 30 October 2018, Northern Beaches Hospital will be a fully licensed private hospital, providing care to public and private patients from an outstanding facility with a large range of quality services provided by exceptional nurses, doctors and staff.

As the Chief Health Information Manager you will make an impact by leading, directing and developing the Medical Records Department at Northern Beaches Hospital (NBH). You will have an opportunity to shape your own team.

You will:

  • Lead, direct and develop the Health Information Services Department
  • Manage the HIS team and all functions of the HIS Department
  • Participate in case mix analysis, education & quality activities
  • Undertake Clinical documentation improvement initiatives
  • Assist with the timely extraction and submission of mandatory data reporting
  • Develop and manage forms rationalisation and digitised medical records management
  • Participate in audits as necessary
  • Provide timely and accurate clinical coding

An experienced Manager with a passion for developing talent within the team, you will also possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Information Management (or equivalent) and eligible for membership with the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA)
  • Post graduate management studies
  • Clinical Coding Audit Qualification
  • At least 5 years of hospital based Health Information Management experience
  • At least 5 years of ICD-10-AM clinical coding experience in an acute/tertiary hospital setting
  • Current clinical coding experiencePrevious private hospital experience, preferably in a management/senior role
  • Working knowledge of webPAS
  • Previous experience with EMR system
  • Previous experience with record scanning solutions
  • Proven experience building and leading high performing teams with a service excellence approach
  • Highly developed problem solving skills that lead to positive outcomes
  • High level of planning, prioritising and organising skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Advanced computer literacy & sound knowledge of Microsoft Office
