WW6405 - Operational Manager, Health Informatic Services - ( Full-time) - Icon Cancer Care South Brisbane, QLD

The Operational Manager Health Informatic Services is required to provide high level operational management of the clinical coding, medical typing, release of information, medical records and administrative staff within the HIS Department. In addition to managing the staff, this role is required to ensure that the HIS suite of quality audits are undertaken on a regular basis and results are actioned and tabled at the relevant committees. This position will also be required to undertake data reporting for various end users within the Cancer Care Australia Division. This is a full-time permanent position.

Responsibilities / Duties: 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day to day management of multiple staff and departments within the Health Informatic Services Department
  • Interpret a variety of records and preserve, release or archive them in files and databases for administrative, legal and patient use
  • Assist with the development and management of forms rationalisation and digitised medical records management
  • Evaluate organisational needs of record keeping and monitor performance of systems and update them periodically, analysing operations to modify systems for optimal results
  • Implement procedures for archiving data and create classification systems, indexes and guides for inputting information
  • Undertake data analysis and produce reports focusing on admissions, discharges, pharmacology dispensing and clinical coding data
  • Participation in audits and tabling results to various committees
  • Project work as required.

  • A Minimum of 5 years’ experience in leading multiple departments within a HIM/HIS service
  • Tertiary qualifications in the area of Health Information Management is mandatory.

  • Post graduate qualifications relating to health informatics, health information management or system administration would be highly regarded.
  • Clinical Coder qualification highly desirable
  • Extensive knowledge, and experience with undertaking release of information and Privacy Act in a private hospital setting, along with holding the title of “Privacy Officer”.
  • Experience in record keeping and classification methods, using computerised programs, and training and assisting users on how to properly navigate systems
  • Strong analytical, reporting and problem solving skills
  • Relevant computer technical skills applicable to hospital administration systems capability
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and meet tight deadline
