About your opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for Clinical Coder to join the Clinical Coding team at the Townsville Hospital. The purpose of this role will be to provide timely and accurate coding of inpatient records.

This will involve abstracting relevant information from scanned clinical records and other associated clinical information systems and assigning complete and accurate codes in accordance with Australian coding procedures and standards. .

To be successful in this role you will assessed on your ability to demonstrate

  • Experience or Knowledge to accurately code all medical records using the latest classification system ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS, in accordance with coding guidelines issued by NCCH and Queensland Health.
  • Ability to develop a thorough working knowledge of clinical coding with the aim of meeting set coder competency expectations with overall achievement 85% accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently.
  • Demonstrated a high level of organisational skills and the ability to work individually and as a team member
  • Demonstrated communication skills to liaise with clinical and hospital staff.

Generous remuneration package value up to $81,398 p.a. comprising salary range of $2446.60 to $ 2734.50 p.f. (AO3), 17.5% leave loading, 12.75 % employer contribution to superannuation. Other employment benefits may

  • There are nil mandatory requirements, this position will suit applicants with possession of or completing an Introductory
    Clinical Coding course.
