Through the provision of direct support and organisation of relevant programmes for coders, the District Clinical Coding Manager will facilitate and ensure the maintenance of a high level of coding quality and accuracy across the District and ensure completion of coding within designated deadlines.

The ISLHD Clinical Coding Unit enjoys great relationships with key stakeholders in the fields of health information management, performance, costing and clinical governance and there are many opportunities to work closely with them to achieve mutually agreeable outcomes. Much work has been done but more is needed so there are exciting challenges available for someone with vision and energy.

Essential: 
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or proven expertise and experience in a health information management role within a clinical or health related service area.
  • Demonstrated recent experience and competency in using the ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS clinical classification and proven understanding of the relationship between clinical coding, casemix and activity based funding.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of staff including excellent skills in the management of financial and human resources and the delivery of clinical coding services across an organisation.
  • Proven initiative with high level conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to problem solve, interpret and report on complex information rapidly and accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated leadership and team building qualities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including extensive report writing and verbal presentation skills.
  • Experience in and knowledge of health related patient and clinical information.
