The large team of HIMs working at The Royal Melbourne Hospital pride themselves in high quality coding and new staff members are supported by the Coding Manager, senior auditor/educator and the six Coding Educators. Melbourne Health implemented an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) scanned medical record thus opening up the potential for more flexible work arrangements.

This role will involve:

  • Coding and grouping using 3M Web Codefinder
  • Coding auditing
  • Unit audits and coding/casemix analysis

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Previous experience in a similar coding position
  • Completion of a Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent
  • A comprehensive knowledge of current Australian Coding Standards
  • A thorough understanding of Victorian specific coding advice and activity based funding policies

Ideally any applicants will have highly developed oral and written communication skills and be able to work well in a team environment and also individually.
