Applications are now invited from suitably qualified and experienced Health Information Managers (HIM) for a full-time position at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital.

St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital is a modern and progressive 137-bed private “not-for-profit hospital located in the Garden City of the Darling Downs of Queensland. The hospital provides a wide range of acute medical and surgical services including cardiology, medical oncology, rheumatology, respiratory medicine, psychiatry, radiotherapy, renal dialysis, neurology, orthopaedic, gynaecology, endoscopy, gastroenterology, urology, general surgery, ophthalmology, ENT and oral & maxillofacial surgery.

Responsibilities / Duties: 

A degree in health information management is preferred; applicants who are progressing through the degree course are strongly encouraged to apply. The hospital participates in 3M Clinical Document Improvement (CDI), approximately 30,000 records are coded annually.

Essential: 
  • Ability to accurately code medical records
  • Ability to extract relevant data for Government Agencies and Private Health Funds
  • Extensive experience using ICD-10-AM (10th Edition)
  • Ability to supervise staff and foster a team environment
  • Awareness of legislation impacting upon medical record
  • Ability to perform audits to ensure accuracy of clinical coding
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Ability to provide relevant data to Executive and Clinical Managers
  • The ability to grow with the hospital as it transitions to the Philips TASY EMR throughout 2019


Desirable: 
  • Knowledge of private sector funding models
  • Experience in mental health facilities
