Responsibilities / Duties: 

About your opportunity

We are seeking two proactive Medical Coders to join the Victorian Cancer Registry (VCR) team. Reporting to the Coding Team Leader, your role is to:

  • Review and analyse information from cancer notifications, translating the information into specific codes in accordance with International Classification of Diseases for Oncology (ICDO) and International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) guidelines.
  • Enter data into the VCR information system, ensuring a high degree of accuracy whilst adhering to privacy and confidentiality protocols.
  • Develop and maintain effective collaborative working relationships with the VCR, Cancer Council and external stakeholders.

All about you:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has completed the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) Introductory ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS Clinical Coding course or the HIMAA Comprehensive Medical Terminology course or a health science tertiary degree or extensive work experience in a health-related field.
  • Has demonstrated experience working with health-related data with proven skills in data processing and manipulation in Microsoft Excel and other relevant applications.
  • Can proactively engage in process improvements and self-learning practices with the capacity to share knowledge amongst the team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a high level of attention to detail.

What we can offer you

This full-time fixed term position for 12 months provides a salary within range $52,086 - $57,436 pa plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card.
