Wagga Wagga Base Hospital (WWBH) is one of the busiest rural hospitals in NSW with 300 beds, over 40,000 emergency presentations, 1,100 births and approximately 11,000 operations each year.  The new hospital was built in
2016 and provides medical, surgical, paediatrics, obstetric, rehabilitation, and mental health acute and sub-acute inpatient services.

About the role:

The WWBH Health Information Service is looking to for an experienced Clinical Documentation Specialist to join our supportive and busy team – come on board!

This permanent, full time opportunity is responsible for driving the implementation of Activity Based Management (ABM) principles at the point of care, ensuring that all aspects of recording and management of activity, such as acute admitted, sub-acute, non-acute, emergency and mental health, is optimised to ensure best practice, patient safety and appropriate funding.

In this dynamic role, you will act as a conduit between the clinical and management environment in the operationalising of ABM principles for quality and performance improvement purposes. You will be integral to reviewing clinical documentation at the point of care, which reflects both care delivery and resource utilisation, to support the appropriate reimbursement of service This is an excellent opportunity for a Clinical Documentation Specialist to join our high performing team and grow strong working relationships, knowledge of clinical documentation standards and experience in clinical coding and funding models within our busy Base Hospital.



Essential: 

    What we are looking for:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a clinical field with extensive and relevant 
    experience
  • Knowledge and experience in ABM and its application in a clinical 
    environment
  • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, 
    including a capacity to liaise and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders
