WW6608 - Operations Health Information Manager – Western NSW Local Health District - Full-Time - Dubbo - NSW

The Operations Health Information Manager is responsible for the provision of contemporary professional leadership, practical support and innovative advice in all facets of health record and health information processes across Western NSW Local Health District.

Responsibilities / Duties: 
  • Actively provide support, advice and education regarding the clinical, legal, financial, ethical and administrative requirements of health information management day-today functioning and to ensure continuous quality improvement in service provision.
  • Design, implement, monitor and review strategic and governance frameworks that are supported by robust systems and processes to ensure compliance with policy and legislative requirements.
  • Effectively manage change associated with implementation of new health record technologies across a spectrum of stakeholders to ensure the collection of quality data and provision of information for clinical care.
  • Lead the development of sustainable strategies for the storage of existing health records and plan for future management to ensure ongoing efficiencies are identified and obligations met.
  • Collaborate and engage with internal and external stakeholders to actively promote excellence in compliance with relevant National Accreditation Standards to promote a culture of excellence.
  • Engage with stakeholders to promote the documentation of comprehensive clinical information to support the safe delivery of continuity in patient care and engage in the development of documentation collection systems either in paper or electronic formats.
  • Support and educate stakeholders in the collection, interpretation and understanding of patient level information to support informed decision making for the delivery of improved patient outcomes.
Essential: 
  1. Tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management (HIM) or equivalent qualification.
  2. Knowledge and understanding of legislation, policy and practice in relation to health information, medical record management and privacy.
  3. High level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop working relationships with clinicians and managers.
  4. Capacity to organise, plan and prioritise work, documentation and schedules accurately, responding appropriately to changing circumstances where necessary.
  5. Capacity to undertake objective, critical analysis of challenges and opportunities, exploring a range of possibilities and innovative alternatives for effective solutions.
  6. Experience leading and developing people from diverse backgrounds to achieve outcomes, solve problems, implement change and improve services.
  7. Experience in the development, implementation and ongoing management of health record business processes, including change management and continual service improvement.
  8. Current licence to drive in NSW, with the ability to travel for work purposes.
