WW6613 - Clinical Coder – Teachers Health Fund - Full-Time - Surry Hills - NSW

Do you have a strong clinical background but you’re waiting for the right opportunity to transition into corporate role? Perhaps you have experience within insurance or hospital claims auditing and you’re looking for a change. We have an opportunityfor a Clinical Coder to become part of our team here at Teachers health who can take ownership over auditing hospital claims in particular disease, procedure and DRG variances.

Responsibilities / Duties: 
  • Review data to identify and respond to coding, DRG and documentation anomalies
  • Audit, analyse, resolve and report on inconsistent claims or outlier episodes
  • Design and review reasonability rules thorough hour internal systems to reduce errors
  • Educate and report on key trends and issues and ensure internal policies and claims procedures are best practise
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key external providers
  • Interpret and analyse clinical documentation ensuring they are in line with ethical coding requirements
  • Analyse and report on industry wide Casemix data as required
Essential: 
  • A Minimum of 3+ years' experience of clinical coding in a tertiary hospital
  • Experience in coding auditing
  • Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS and DRG assignment
  • Experience in both public and private hospital funding models
  • Completion of a recognised clinical coding course or relevant qualification
  • Strong problem solving, negotiation and decision-making skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Intermediate to advanced excel skills
