Responsibilities / Duties: 

The Position

St John of God Bendigo Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and dynamic Health Information Management professional to lead the daily operations of our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for the management of the Health Information Services (HIS) department, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of medical records services to meet operational requirements and standards. The Scanned Medical Record (SMR) project is due to commence soon, so it’s an exciting time to lead be an integral part of the project.

This position will be offered on a permanent full time or part time basis, working a minimum of 60.8 hours per fortnight. Flexible working days and hours will be negotiated with the successful candidate.


The successful candidate will have:
• Ability to work within and contribute to the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
• Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent.
• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the management of a Health Information Service in an Acute Hospital environment.
• Ability to code utilising ICD-10-AM accordance with Australian Coding standards
• Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-AM, medical terminology and how coding affects DRG allocation.
• Quality improvement and NSQHS Accreditation.
• Sound interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Well-developed organisational skills.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced skills in information technology including Patient Management Systems and Microsoft Office.
