WW6660 - Deputy Manager - Health Information Services - Full-Time - Central Coast Local Health District, Gosford, NSW

We are looking for a motivated Health Information Manager (or equivalent) to join our dynamic team. This would be a great opportunity for a new graduate, or for a HIM looking to move into management and small projects.

The position of Deputy Manager – Health Records & Document Imaging, Gosford HIS is primarily responsible to assist the Manager, HIS in providing an efficient and effective Health Information Service to the CCLHD.

The Deputy Manager is also responsible for ensuring that policies and procedures are in place to promote accurate, timely and accessible health records.

This position has a portfolio focusing on Health Records and Document Imaging aspects within the Department.

Responsibilities / Duties: 

Oversee health records management including, but not limited to, record structure, storage,
documentation and electronic data entry

Proactively develop strategies to manage and improve data quality in the various information systems
(including community and outpatients services)

Oversee the Document Imaging audits and processes in HIS, including high level reporting on audit
results and dissemination

Analyse reports from a variety of systems and compare data to identify missing records and problems,
and follow up with patient care areas and other areas within HIS to ensure that all records are scanned
and available electronically.


Tertiary qualification in Health Information Management or equivalent. Consideration would be given to applicants working towards HIM qualifications.


Demonstrated high level experience working with electronic medical records, patient information systems and reporting programs.

Demonstrated experience in the leadership and development of a team of professional and administrative personnel including interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Demonstrated experience in change management processes around data quality and records management including key stakeholder consultation.

Demonstrated strong analytical skills and an understanding of business analysis and workflow design.

Knowledge of appropriate legislation and policies relating to the management of health information management including electronic medical records.
