Monash Health is an impressive organisation of seven public hospitals, 21 community health sites, five aged care facilities, university affiliated international research and tertiary education. We provide healthcare for the entire lifespan from pre-birth to palliative care and all stages in between, and we have recently opened the new 230-bed Monash Children’s Hospital.

About Us

Our Specialist Consulting and Health Information Services (SCHIS) team fulfils a critical role in our operations and is integral to the effective management and delivery of our services. During 2019 we are implementing an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to improve patient safety and care at Monash Health.

About the Role

A great opportunity is now available in our SCHIS team for a self-motivated, lateral thinker, to support its operations in a number of key initiatives, with a focus on EMR. We anticipate appointing this role on a twelve month contract basis with the potential to extend.

Reporting to the Operations Director, SCHIS, this is a key role in which you’ll work closely with a range of stakeholders to operationalise local strategic plans and change improvement initiatives designed to support Monash Health as a state-wide healthcare leader.

In particular, your work will involve the effective rollout of EMR related projects as they impact the SCHIS team as well as ensuring that our emergency management and business continuity processes are effective and are maintained and operationalised in times of change.

Essential: 

About You

You are experienced in implementing service improvement initiatives within a large complex healthcare organisation and have a demonstrated understanding of legislative, statutory and industrial frameworks as they relate to healthcare. You have also gained experience leading clinical areas through accreditation processes, including the NSQHS (National) Standards and other relevant clinical accreditation processes. On a personal level, you demonstrate the following attributes:

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including development and implementation of policies and procedures;
Proven ability to develop and implement creative solutions to complex, systemic and/or organisational challenges;
Data analysis and reporting experience and proficiency with a range of health information systems; and
A commitment to, and capacity to drive, continuous quality and safety improvement.
You hold a Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent) and are eligible for membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia. Postgraduate qualifications in a related field, or working towards, will be highly regarded.
