About the Department

Health Information Services (HIS) is a busy department providing a range of services to SVHM and external providers.

The primary functions of HIS are:

- Management of a scanned medical record
- Release of patient information in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act
- Timely and accurate clinical coding of inpatient episodes and provision of casemix & health information data for decision support, service planning, financial planning, quality & research

About the Role

This exciting job opportunity will form an integral part of SVHM Coding Service and will participate and manage the education program, including coding and casemix education and training of internal and external staff.

Classification for this position will range from JB21 - JB24 ($110,328 - $121,565 per annum)

Responsibilities / Duties: 

- Management and provision of the coding education program & training for all coding staff within HIS
- Shared responsibility with the Coding Manager to undertake clinical education & training for SVHM clinicians & relevant staff, HIS staff and HIM students
- Clinical coding and auditing
- Ad hoc projects as required

Essential: 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

- Excellent coding knowledge and experience using ICD-10-AM, ACHI, ACS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to train and educate staff in clinical coding
- Leadership and team building qualities
