  • An attractive opportunity is presented within the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) to join the Clinical Coding Service. As a Senior Clinical Coder, you will contribute to the achievement of revenue optimisation, data quality and the comprehensive Casemix profile within the Central Adelaide Local Health Network. You will translate the narrative descriptions of diagnoses and procedures into valid, accurate and complete ICD-10-AM codes which reflect the complete clinical picture of the patient, reason for admission and treatment administered. Ensuring correct assignment of codes and appropriate DRG assignment, you will provide assistance to medical and other health care personnel regarding accurate medical record documentation for clear interpretation for translation into codes. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work at the new Royal Adelaide Hospital - the most technologically-advanced hospital in Australia. The new RAH is the cornerstone of the reformed SA Health system, harnessing the latest in architectural design in order to create a state-of-the-art health environment for patients and a positive working environment for staff.

    It is desirable that you possess a satisfactory completion of the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) Intermediate Coding Course, together with demonstrated competency in ICD-10-AM and a Certificate in HIMAA Advanced Coding. With proven experience within a clinical coding service, preferably in a multidisciplinary health setting, you will have a high level of attention to detail, organisational, analytical and numeracy skills. You will also bring the ability to use your initiative and prioritise and meet internal and external deadlines whilst maintaining quality.
