WW6742 - Health Information Management Graduate / Clinical Coder - Full-Time/ Part-Time - Western District Health Service, Hamilton, VIC

80 hours per fortnight with ADO (Part Time will be considered)

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated Health Information Graduate / Clinical Coder to join our friendly Health Information Department with a focus on quality improvement and high performance. You will be coding from our hybrid electronic clinical health record (EHR) and paper clinical health record to deliver accurate and timely data, contributing to Western District Health Service WIES targets and DHHS submission deadlines.

Responsibilities / Duties: 

• Ensure timely and accurate coding oh health service inpatient episodes using 3M encoder and application of Australian Coding Standards 11th edition 2019.
• Participate in an ongoing coding auditing program with a focus on coding quality and optimizing health service revenue.
• Participate in clinician education on Casemix funding, coding and documentation.
• Provide assistance in other duties to cover annual and sick leave.
• Participate in ongoing staff development.

Essential: 

• Excellent knowledge of Clinical Coding principals and standards.
• Recent Clinical Coding knowledge and experience using ICD10AM (11th Edition) is essential.
• Understanding of the Victorian Casemix Funding Model.
• Understanding of DHHS data reporting requirements i.e. VAED.
• Understanding of DHHS Hospital Admission Policy.
• Bachelor of Health Information Management or Clinical Coding Certificate (Clinical Coder)
• Excellent Organsiation & Planning Skills
